AN Update
This weekend I want to go see a movie. It is called District B-13. Its a French Martial Arts film being released at Sunset Place. It is a real small film produced by Luc Besson, and being Distributed by Magnolia Pictures (the only people with enough foresight to release Ong Bak in theatres. ) Here, is what Time Magazine said about it: “LET'S PUT THE MATTER SIMPLY: DB13 MAKES EVERYTHING HOLLYWOOD HAS DONE LATELY IN THE ACTION GENRE LOOK CLUMSY, DULL AND STALE. Simple breathless stylishness, superb editing, extraordinarily graceful – a sublime action film. THIS IS GUARANTEED: YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE SCREEN.” – Richard Schickel, Time Magazine And here is a plot synopsis: " Paris, 2010. An isolation wall surrounds the ghetto cities. Without effective law enforcement, within these walls, gang rule is absolute. Damien is a member of an elite police squadron, a special unit highly trained in martial arts and the precise physical skills necessary to navigate the treacherous urban landscape of Paris' future. He is now tasked with the most vital and dangerous mission of his career: to retrieve a loose nuke stolen by the most powerful gang of District B13. Leïto, a vigilante criminal whose only goal is to save his sister from the clutches of the same gang, knows District B13 like the back of his hand. Assigned to infiltrate the sector to defuse the bomb, Damien must convince Leïto to join his cause. Yet everything is not quite as it seems. Who exactly works for whom? Who is really pulling the strings? Above all, who profits from the use of this bomb?" Who is with me? | | Tuesday, January 24th, 2006 | | 10:50 pm |
Chris Penn Supposibly past away today. That sucks!!!! Just thought I'd share that. | | Tuesday, January 17th, 2006 | | 7:21 pm |
Here are the films so far.
So these are the films which i want to see at the Miami Film Festival. The last films i don't know about because it is the closing night film, thus expensive to go to. But those are the movies. You all that want to go with me can also go to the website, and suggest movies. http://www.miamifilmfestival.com/MIFFShowTime/ByFilms.aspxAlso, the good thing is that the festival starts at the end of my spring break so I will be able to read for a few weeks ahead, thus I can actually go to these movies. Thankyou for Smoking - A spin-doctor for the Academy of Tobacco Studies looks after the industry's better interests. He's not above shouting down a weak, near-death cancer victim on national T.V. just to make his point. When the smoke clears, amused moviegoers will know two things: biting satire has hit a new, devilish level, and director Jason Reitman's career is on fire. - Saturday, March 04, 2006, Gusman Center, 7:00:00 PM Do you cry for me Argentina - The in-between lives and thwarted dreams of young Korean immigrants in Argentina roar onto the screen in this fast-paced, genre-busting film that occupies a niche all its own: Asian South American cinema. Members of the “1.5 Generation” Koreans who immigrated as children grapple with conformity, class and success or lack of it in contemporary Buenos Aires. Monday, March 06, 2006, Regal South Beach 17, 9:30:00 PM, Friday, March 10, 2006, Regal South Beach 10, 4:00:00 PM, Sunday, March 12, 2006, Regal South Beach 18, 6:45:00 PM Sa-Kwa - A young woman is dumped by her boyfriend of seven years. A man who has admired her from afar puts the moves on her. Before she knows it, she is courted, engaged and married to a man who may not be the love of her life. Then her ex shows up. What’s a girl to do? Lead actress Mun So-ri, as the lady in question, pulls you into her love dilemma. She’s slightly ditzy, always amusing and playfully ambivalent, in a film that will tickle your heart. Monday, March 06, 2006, Cosford (U/M), 8:30:00 PM, Saturday, March 11, 2006, Regal South Beach 10, 4:00:00 PM The Notorious Betty Page - Model extraordinaire Bettie Page pioneered the sexy, kinky nude pin-up pose way back in the ‘50s. Director Mary Harron (American Psycho) films her racy life story. A very svelte Gretchen Mol gives an amazing performance as Paige, the lady in leather who drove men wild. Partly shot in Florida, it perfectly re-creates a time gone by. - Monday, March 06, 2006, Colony Theater, 10:00:00 PM Tsoti - A twentysomething thug is prone to robbing, mugging and backstabbing fellow crooks. The day he carjacks and shoots a middle-class woman is a new low. The victim's baby is in the back seat. Is anybody beyond redemption? Winner of Audience Awards at both the Edinburgh and Toronto International Film Festivals. A nail-biting emotional rollercoaster. - Tuesday, March 07, 2006, Gusman Center, 7:00:00 PM Wassup Rockers - In L.A., a group of aimless El Salvadorian teen boys play in a rock band. They prefer skateboarding to hip hop, and are ostracized by their neighbors. They head to Beverly Hills, where the local girls think they are "muy caliente". But the girls' boyfriends are not so amused! The latest kid-flick from director Larry Clark (Kids). - Friday, March 10, 2006, Regal South Beach 11, 9:45:00 PM, Sunday, March 12, 2006, Regal South Beach 11, 9:45:00 PM Friends With Money - What do the haves and have-nots have in common? They never have enough money! A fine ensemble cast of today’s top actors portray people on the brink of middle age, who only pretend to have it all together. Jennifer Aniston, Frances McDormand, Catherine Keener and Joan Cusack chase the almighty dollar, while we laugh and pretend we don’t love money, designer clothes and bling-bling as much they do. - Saturday, March 11, 2006, Gusman Center, 7:00:00 PM | | 8:34 am |

Another day
I don't update this thing much but no one really cares, nor should they. Today i went to some art gallery with Chip and Crystal then came hme and watched American Beauty. Something I realized while watching that movie, here at home alone. I have been spending more and more time alone. With no one to talk to, with no one to turn to and say something. It is just weird. I know it has plenty to do with Law School and how time consuming it is, but it is still strange. Besides this I also began thinking about although I am alone, at time lonely, and at times cimpletely angry at everything, I am also happy. I love the people I hang out with at school, I love law school for the most part, and I like at times being alone. I know my thoughts sometimes get the better me, and I know I don't have a girlfriend(but I have gotten use to being alone its 26 years already), but I am still content. Don't get me wrong I would like to find someone, or to go out more, or to find someone new who can just sit with and chat for hours about nonsense with, but I don't have that and I'm fine with that. What I have found is that people I once took for granted I enjoy their company all that much more. Chip and Crystal, Kenn (when he is down here), and Gus (when school is out) are a given, but persons I didn't hangout with all that much before are also helping to make my life somewhat more complete. Kristyn and Joanne, Daniel, and Kate basically are people I have been seeing more of, and have helped me keep my sanity. I'm happy. For atleast this one moment in time anyways. It just seems cool. This will all change tommorow of course. | | Sunday, October 2nd, 2005 | | 11:57 pm |

I'm thinking about having a movie night at my house, kinda like the old wrestling nights. Instead I want to watch movies and maybe go to dinner. I know I have a shit load of movies I haven't seen and if worst comes to worst we can always go to blockbuster. So if your interested RSVP me on this site. I don't know what day it will be, but I will figure that out after I have an idea of how many people are coming. So let me know if you want to come, and what movies you want to watch. Now kung fu
Okay so I went and saw layercake, the movie was awesome. It was a David Mamet type of film mixed with a british gangster film. Really well written. So now I want to go see Kung Fu Hustle. It is a comedy from the director/ writer/ star of one of the funniest movies of last year Shaolin Soccer. This movie from the trailer looks hilarious. I can't wait. It's on Friday, and the movie starts at 11:30 at the beach. I am adament on going. Last night was such an awesome experience at the movies it made me real happy. No talking, no bullshit, and the place was beautiful. I am damn happy that I went. Here is the description of the movie. "Set amid the chaos of pre-revolutionary China, small time thief, Sing, aspires to be one of the sophisticated and ruthless Axe Gang whose underworld activities overshadow the city. Stumbling across a crowded apartment complex aptly known as "Pig Sty Alley ," Sing attempts to extort money from one of the ordinary locals, but the neighbors are not what they appear. Sing's comical attempts at intimidation inadvertently attract the Axe Gang into the fray, setting off a chain of events that brings the two disparate worlds face-to-face. As the inhabitants of the Pig Sty fight for their lives, the ensuing clash of kung fu titans unearths some legendary martial arts Masters. Sing, despite his futile attempts, lacks the soul of a killer, and must face his own mortality in order to discover the true nature of the kung fu master." |
